With a dynamic three piece horn section, a driving four piece rhythm section and commanding male and female lead singers, Soul City guarantee a huge, high energy, entertainment experience. Their versatile range of music includes all of the music legends of rock, soul, disco and pop. Soul City is a band of professional musicians that have played throughout the world both as individuals and with other performing groups. Since their first performance, Soul City have gained a strong local following through regular performances throughout Queensland, including the Childers Festival and Relish Food & Wine Festival!
Originally from Port Douglas, Ollie Murk honed his skills around the campfire playing guitar from a young age and teaching himself the didgeridoo and harmonica later to compliment his sound. His career in music only started at the age of 22 and has grown exponentially since then. Playing at a number of venues in North Queensland and on the Sunshine Coast, Ollie is now an established musician. Ollie delivers a fresh new twist to some of your favourite songs from the classics to now. His genre is primarily folk/rock/surf/blues, applying his style to a wide array of artists from Xavier Rudd, to Michael Jackson, Mumford & Sons to Stevie Wonder, Bill Withers and even Avicii!
Frank Benn has been performing live music for over 15 years. With a unique funk meets coastal groove sound that sits in the pocket of any atmosphere, there is something about Frank’s tunes that’ll have anyone tapping their foot. Frank has recorded two studio albums; namely ‘Visual Images’ which was recorded at the ACIM Gympie, and ‘The Rock’ recorded at Pacific International Studios in Hervey Bay. Frank thrives on live performances and creates an energy felt by the crowd from start to finish.
Heidi & Scott
Versatile and melodic acoustic duo ‘Heidi and Scott’ deliver a delightful blend of male and female vocals with breathtaking harmonies and warm acoustic guitar accompaniment. Their effervescent chemistry is contagious and engaging. Heidi and Scott’s extensive repertoire covers a variety of genres including popular rock, pop, hip hop, rhythm and blues and reggae from the 1950’s to today!
Leonie Kingdom is an emerging Indie-folk Artist from South East Queensland. She specialises in acoustic guitar, singing, song writing and live performance. Leonie’s style could be described as Emotional, Dark, and even Haunting. Leonie has held herself as an artist and performed music for many years. Though it was the recent release of her first single ‘Night Terrors’ that hit number one on the Triple J unearthed charts and it’s feature in channel 9’s Doctor Doctor, season 3, episode 7, that gained her attention around the globe. Nkechi Anele (triple j Roots N All host) described Leonie’s voice as ‘Sweet like honey, yet dark and mysterious in all the right ways’.
Al Davies performs superb instrumental Spanish, Classical and Flamenco Guitar, and is a highly experienced musician who has enjoyed success both overseas and locally. Based in Hervey Bay, Al’s performances and techniques have been described as mesmerising at the many venues he has appeared at.
John Corowa has a nice, warm and easy listening style and acoustic guitar sound that captures the audience with a complimentary range of Aussie rock, Motown, rock n roll, dance and a wide range of songs that fits every occasion.
The Gypsy Cats
The Gypsy Cats play a repertoire of classic gypsy jazz by Django Reinhardt, compositions by contemporary players such as Romane, Angelo Debarre, Stochelo Rosenberg, and some original material; playing across different gypsy jazz styles such as swing manouche, bolero, gypsy bossa, and french musette. The trio is made of: Roberto Fontana (trumpet), Mircha Mangiacotti (guitar) and Daniele Avanzini (guitar), all originally from Italy. Coming from different musical backgrounds, they started busking together around the streets of Brisbane out of a shared love of the music genre. In 2016, they began a weekly residency at Alquimia bar, the Tequila-fuelled ‘Gypsy Jam’, which became one of Brisbane’s most renowned gypsy jazz events, attracting some of the finest players around and facilitating the beginning of new exciting collaborations with various instrumentalists and singers alike.
Sam Maddison – a Filipino born, Aussie raised singer/songwriter – has been shaped by growing up in a small and isolated community. Sam has immersed herself in her childhood passions of music and is now a fully-fledged full time solo performer. Sam has honed her craft by working tirelessly and is a highly sought after performer on the Fraser Coast, regularly performing in Maryborough, Hervey Bay, Bundaberg, Gympie and beyond – easily working over 200 solo shows a year. Whether it be in a small intimate crowd or a large audience, Sam fills the stage and engages you with her unique style of blended country folk, her self taught guitar prowess and her soaring vocals.
